Training Package Updates – New Trainer and Assessor Credential Requirements

The TAE Training Package was updated in April 2016 to include two new core units, TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools and TAELLN411 Address adult language, literacy and numeracy skills, to the newly endorsed qualification, TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
Given the importance of improving assessment and foundation skills within the VET system, the Skills Ministers agreed to update the training and assessment credential requirements in line with these changes to the TAE Training Package.

On 7th July 2017, the Hon. Karen Andrews MP, Assistant Minister for Vocational Education and Skills released an amendment to the training and assessment credential requirements in the Standards for RTOs 2015.

In line with these requirements, current trainers and assessors who hold the superseded TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will also need to hold the following units to continue to deliver nationally recognised training:

Some trainers and assessors who hold the TAE40110 may have completed one or more of the relevant units as electives or as part of ongoing professional development. If you do not currently hold the relevant units, you will need to complete them before 1 April 2019 to meet the new requirements.
