Tanya Conole is an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) qualified and experienced Health and Safety Professional with a demonstrated ability to apply her knowledge of relevant OHS Legislation, Standards and Codes within both organisational and project settings. Previously responsible for the provision of OHS advice and leadership to Department management, functional leads, Principal Contractor and sub-contractors, Tanya has mentored, coached, lead and influenced OHS staff and general management at varying levels within the Owner’s Team, Principal Contractor, subcontractor and suppler personnel groups for positively improved OHS outcomes.
The past ten years has presented Tanya with employment opportunities within in the oil and gas, mining and minerals and construction industries working as both the Client and the Contractor in an array of Corporate settings and on tier 1 projects within Australia and New Zealand. In this time, Tanya’s involvement in the industry has been not only in OHS but also other disciplines of Industrial Relations and Project Controls. This diverse background provides her the capacity to promote awareness of other business and project departments when their needs and OHS requirements interface.
Tanya has been awarded the National Safety Council of Australia Perpetual Trophy for academic excellence, received a nomination for the Safety Institute of Australia OHS Education Award and has been afforded membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society for her academic performance. Tanya graduated ‘dux’ of her class for her Post Graduate Diploma of Occupational Hazard Management conducted at the esteemed Victorian Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (VIOSH, University of Ballarat) with requests for pieces of her work to be used as exemplars for future classes.
To compliment these academic achievements are a Bachelor of Human Movement Science and Lead Auditor qualifications. Furthermore, further skills and knowledge has been obtained and shared in the areas of TapRoot investigation and root cause analysis, occupational hygiene (for oil and gas), as well as Australia’s change to harmonised OHS legislation, award and recognition programs and training and assessing.
Tanya’s passion is the creation of a positive and informed OHS culture through both the systemic and behavioural management of safety as well as constructive interactions and communications across all parties; rising to engage people in what it takes to go home safely and then providing them the structural framework and empowerment to do so.
- Written legislative briefs, safety standards and KPIs, audit reports, award and recognition programs, and general communication pieces;
- Reviewed and make recommendations for change to safety management plans, scopes of work, procedures and contractual documentation; and
- Coordinated and implemented safety policies and guidelines.
Now living in the USA in Houston Texas, Tanya has already commenced expanding her global network and safety exposures.
