39065QLD Course in Site Safety and Health Representative

Both the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 and the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 require that mine sites will have a Site Safety and Health Representative available in individual mining sites. This course is accredited to provide the necessary skills and knowledge to persons requiring this qualification.

The course consists of the following three modules:

• QMS1 Apply Risk Management Processes
• QMS2 Conduct Safety and Health Investigations
• QMS3 Communicate Information

It should be noted that completion of all competencies does not automatically provide the learner with a position as Site Safety and Health Representative. Persons undertaking this role will be elected or selected for that position based on the individual organisation's criteria.

These three modules are also supervisor competencies.

Course Content

QMS1 Apply Risk Management Processes

• Identify hazards
• Assess and identify unacceptable risk
• Identify and recommend treatments
• Contribute to the implementation of treatments
• Review safety system documentation

QMS2 Conduct Safety and Health Investigations

• Determine the investigation objectives
• Gather information
• Evaluate information
• Identify courses of action
• Prepare and present investigation reports

QMS3 Communicate Information

• Communicate information orally
• Communicate information in writing
• Achieve meeting outcomes
• Make a presentation
• Participate in negotiations

Assessment

These courses are site-specific and the individual Client Mine Site Senior Executive's safety management system will be used as part of the assessment criteria.

Client Specific Course

We conduct this course specifically for clients. These are conducted at the client's site or at a venue arranged by the client.
